Bracketology: North Playoff Picture, Week 8

Posted Friday, October 25, 2013 by Joe Grillo
For a reminder about point-system calculations, here is how the totals are added up for teams in North/South:
  • 12 Points for a win over a team in a higher division
  • 10 Points for a win over a team in the same division, or a win over a team from outside the North or South (including out-of-state opponents*)
  • 8 Points for a win over a team in a lower division
  • 3 Points for every win an opponent that you have beaten has
  • 1 Point for every win an opponent that you lost to has

After adding up your team’s point total, divide the total number by the number of games your team has played.

Division 4 North
1. Pentucket (5-0), 19.5 points*
2. Lynnfield (6-0), 15.33 points*
3. Bedford (4-1), 14.4 points
4. Watertown (4-2), 14 points
5. Triton (4-2), 11.5 points
6. Stoneham (3-3), 11 points
7. Newburyport (3-3), 11 points
8. Amesbury (3-3), 8.67 points

Analysis: Pentucket and Lynnfield have both clinched automatic qualifier status in Division 4 North, but there could be some major movement behind them this weekend, with Triton taking on Masco, Bedford playing Boston Latin, and Watertown hosting Wilmington. Amesbury’s showdown with Manchester-Essex will be a must-win, with a loss likely leaving them out of the playoff picture.
